Masterminds is one of my all time favourite books. I’ve read it three or four times. Once I start reading I can’t put it down. I like how it is written from multiple perspectives. Getting to see what multiple characters are thinking makes the book more compelling. When something big happens I want to read even more, so I can see how each character actually reacts, not just how the main character thinks they do. Also, having multiple main characters makes it easier to connect with them. I think that authors try to get readers to connect to the main character and sometimes it's hard to do that. But when there is more than one main character, there are more people for readers to connect with. Masterminds is an amazing book and I highly recommend that you read it. 5 stars @ToastieTaco of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board This book was one of the best suspenseful books I have ever read! I just couldn't put the book down once I started reading, and when I finished the book, I kept on wanting to read more. Lucky for me, there are two more books in the series which I have also read. The thing I liked most about the book was the story and the characters. The story of this book is very unique. It talks about four normal kids from a normal place in Mexico who are cloned from criminal masterminds. Each of the characters have their own little story to tell about how they feel about their life. My favourite character in the book is Amber Laska. She is a complete know-it-all and loves school (that best describes me!). My favourite part in the book is when one of the characters, Eli, finds out that there is something fishy in town. He is searching up the Boston Tea Party and all the websites say that it was literally a tea party! Suddenly, the power goes off and comes back. That's when Eli finds another website where it talks about the actual rebellion and protest against taxation. That minor accident is the turning point of the book, and the journey gets intensely exciting after that. I really don't want to spoil anything from any of the other books, but I would definitely recommend reading the entire series!
