There are some amusing moments playing off P.L. Travers’ uptight English attitude versus the officially bright and cheery culture of Disney Studios/California. The film delves into the formative childhood experiences of Pamela Travers, the woman who wrote the iconic Mary Poppins, the effects her possessiveness of the creation has on Walt Disney’s 20-year attempts to gain film rights, his dawning realization that there’s something more at stake here than just a story, and redemption of a crucial character.
