I enjoy Lescroart's books quite a bit - interesting plots and characters. But this reader detracts from the quality of the writing. Robert Lawrence reads the narrative portions very unevenly. Sometimes he speeds though a part, tonelessly, as though he is just trying to get through the assignment as quickly as possible. But that is not the worst part. He voices several of the characters as if they are mentally very slow - and one of these is a police detective. The women all sound the same and his regional or ethnic accents seem to come and go. As I listened to this CD I wondered why it is so difficult to find talented readers.
