Taking into account all the criticisms I've read about Dean Karnazes (which I won't get into since they've already been expounded upon by others at great length) I still loved this book. Years ago, I remember a friend recommending this book to me, well before I even finished my first 10K. I responded "there's no way I could ever do an Ultra." To which she quickly retorted, "Nonsense. Of course you can." After reading this book, I know that I can. Not only that, I actually want to. Maybe not the 100 or 200 miles that Dean has, but I feel encouraged to constantly improve and not be so quick to dismiss any goal as being unattainable. Any book that can make you feel that way, faults aside, has some serious merit.
