'The willing suspension of disbelief'...that is the critical element in any story, and it is provided by the reader. Alas, I had to stop reading after about the third chapter....Card would have us believe that The Left is so evil that they would deploy killing machines to slay soldiers, police, and firefighters. While I could, at a stretch, imagine Leftists to be that Evil....it is inconceivable that they could be that organized. The book founders on utter unbelievability. The sad thing here is that some of Card's characters are fascinating, complex people...but put into such an improbable set of circumstances.
