Scrappy, stubborn and strong, the Gallaghers are tested by changing times, but Season Six finds them older, wiser, and better at playing the system. Used to their natural state of chaos, the Gallaghers are as surprised as anyone at how life is turning out for them. But as they come into their own and find out who they really are is it really possible that they could grow apart for good?

If you are reading a commentary on the 6th season of “Shameless”, you are probably already aware of the entertainingly disgusting antics of the Gallagher family on Chicago’s South Side. Season 6 is more of the same, but strangely enough, not in a repetitive or boring kind of way. Perhaps that is a testament to the writing and acting on the show. William H. Macy’s portrayal of the family patriarch, Frank Gallagher, is so good that it is hard to imagine any other actor in the role. Frank reaches new depths of scumbaggery in Season 6, and he does so as someone who is completely comfortable in who he is, a selfish, almost cheerfully unrepentant reprobate who is unable or unwilling to control his desires, and will stop at nothing to advance whatever agenda he has going on at the time. In fact, the whole show seems to be about a group of people that have zero impulse control. And, they are so “shameless” about it. My advice is, watch and enjoy the 6th season of “Shameless”. Just don’t allow yourself to wonder why these seemingly intelligent people constantly make stupid, stupid choices. It’ll just make you crazy.
