"One day dad comes home with one of those old cameras, the kind that uses film. But he doesn't take photos of the regular things people photograph, he takes pictures of his keys, his coffee cup, the objects scattered on the desk. He starts doing a lot of things that are hard to understand, like putting items that belong in the fridge in the cupboard and ones that belong in the cupboard in the fridge" --

An important perspective for children and families, especially those with experiences with Alzheimer's disease.

IndyPL_JosephL Dec 26, 2018

Akin to a story you might read from a Tumblr post or some feel-good news piece, this story centers on a family as they attempt to cope with the father's battle with dementia or some other degenerative disorder that is compelling him to take photos of random things, rather than spend time with his family. While not the most happy of tales, it is an interesting and mildly heartwarming look into this very personal struggle. Unfortunately, since the author never names the father's illness or goes into much detail in general, this book is unfortunately relegated to being a title only a few people will really connect with.
