Anthony Bourdain's cookbook "Appetites" is a wonderful read. In his breakfast section, for example, on the recipe for home fries, there is no recipe just a mild rant on why breakfast potatoes are a no. Full of ancedotes and Tony-isms, I read more than cooked this book. Full of color, this book will transport you all over the world. 5 Stars.

Enjoyed some of the stories posted with the recipes. Most of the recipes call for special ingredients that I would not even know where to find in my area.

I did like the potato salad recipe. It's a keeper and is much better than the potato salad I have been making for years.

This is Bourdain at his most Bourdain-y: full of profanity, blood, an IDGAF attitude, jiujitsu, off cuts, etc. At the end of the day, all I really care about is the quality of the recipes. I only made two, the meatballs and the cauliflower, but they were both goooood.

The recipe is just so so. A very messy looking and just graphic book, not entirely a recipe/cook book. There is some humor involved but is on the vegetarians. Beware.

Mundane recipes and a self congratulatory tone. Tony's finally jumped the shark. This doesn't detract from Kitchen Confidential, the Les Halles cookbook, or his television work: but he's phoning it in with this one.

Parenting hasn't smoothed out the edge, but there are some useful dad-sy recipes and as always great writing. Trigger warning for vegetarians! - some images you may not care for.
