Kiddo LOVES this movie. Dad too.

Now this is a movie that moos with famiy fun entertainment! Ferdinand was an instant favorite for me. It was not just some awful kids cartoon with paper thin characters, a dumb plot, and fart jokes all the way. This movie had redemption, courage, and the lesson of being yourself, with one fart joke. Do not believe me. Gwapo, the bully character in the movie, goes from being the cliche bully character, to becoming a kind and considerate animal after getting a taste of his own brutal medecine. You would even simpathise the bull in the first scene of the movie, where we find out that his dad was the one influencing his behavior by being rude to him. The movie also has Ferdinand convince his friends to have the courage to be more then a set of horns, by coming up with a plan to escape. Plus when he was about to gore El Premaro in the bull fight, Ferdinand sees a rose on the ground, and remebers his true self, which is a real heart felt message in the movie. The only thing I wished was shown more in the movie, was the connection Ferdinand had with his kid owner Neena. The majority of the movie has him away from her. So if you are in the mood for some 1,100 Kg fun, charge your way to Ferdinand! 4/5

This is a lovely movie! It is based around a young bull, Ferdinand, who escapes from a training camp in rural Spain after his father never returns from a showdown with a matador. Adopted by a girl who lives on a farm, Ferdinand's peaceful existence comes crashing down when the authorities return him to his former captors. With help from a wisecracking goat and three hedgehogs, the giant but gentle bovine must find a way to break free before he squares off against El Primero, the famous bullfighter who never loses. Ferdinand is simply beautiful. I love how they show a strong bond between Ferdinand and Nina. I would recommend this movie to people of all ages since it is a family friendly movie. My favourite part would have to be when Ferdinad meets the Hedgehogs and they try to escape, it was hilarious. Overall, it is a fabulous movie and I guarantee your little ones will enjoy it. 5/5. @TheBookWorm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

This movie was funny and endearing. I recently had to rewatch a powerful scene in the movie (yes, there is a powerful scene in this movie).

This was a wild ride. It was funny and crazy and way more weird than I had anticipated.

I think this just became my new favorite movie ever! My brothers and I had a sibling hangout night, and this was the movie we chose to watch, and we all loved it! Ferdinand is such a lovable, big-hearted guy, and all the background characters are interesting and funny in their own way. (Though admittedly, Lupe took some getting used to.) And the dance-off between the bulls and the horses was HILARIOUS. We had to back it up and re-watch it before moving on with the rest of the film. I was crying, I was laughing so hard.

As far as the story goes, it doesn't exactly follow the book (but what movie does?). However, one of my brothers noted that it was unusual in that there wasn't a "character arc" as such for Ferdinand. Instead of having to overcome a personal flaw, he starts out the movie with very strong convictions, and the rest of the film is about him living up to those ideals even as the bullfighting culture around him tries to convince him to abandon them. So it had a very powerful message, I think, and one well worth learning in today's society.

All in all, I give it five stars and two thumbs up!

Cutest movie ever!

This animated film features the world of bull fighting. We see it from the perspective of the farm animals. The main character is a bull named Ferdinand. The plot is good and there is a message. The animals have cute personalities and humor.

This movie was a big miss for me. I have always loved the book "The Story of Ferdinand" by Munro Leaf and this movie completely failed to capture the message of peace, gentleness and tolerance celebrated in the slim, picture book classic. Because the original story is so slight, the movie is chock-full of padding, slapstick filler, and random extraneous and unlikeable characters. Some of this extra padding is downright painful to watch, such as the dance-off scenes and the slaughterhouse scenes. Ugh! I also found it infuriating that one of the few characters from the book, Ferdinand's understanding mother, is removed completely from the movie and never mentioned! This seems like an insult to all women since she is one of the main characters in the book! Instead his father is in the movie and turned into Ferdinand's hero. I found the movie pretty loathsome and I would rather read the gentle, charming, delightful book over and over than ever watch this loud travesty again.

Great animation movie (underrated). Definitely recommend for kids & families alike. Entertaining, fun, and comedic. Good takeaways from this movie as well (ie. teamwork, pursuing dreams, etc.).

My favorite scene of the movie was the Credits ;)
