Excellent acting from the whole cast and some wonderful throwaway lines, such as Penhale saying "I just thought he was a good listener" after Mr. Tishell dies against his shoulder in the pub.

Be sure to watch the "extras" at the end. I have long wondered how they managed to film only an sunny days with clear blue sky.

Each episode still has three story lines; characters are true to form--although everyone except Bert Large and Mrs. Tishell are growing and becoming more interesting. A few more secrets from the past are revealed.

Rated 5/10. This season was quite a disappointment. I usually look forward to this series, giving it high rating points, but this time, that eagerness was misplaced.

The series seems to becoming more of a drama, rather than a comedy. I found that the laughs were very few. Also quite disturbing is that the medical treatment scenes are ramped up, making them much more graphic and gory, something totally unnecessary.

There will be a series 9, which is the only one commissioned, at this point. It may, or may not, go further. In my opinion, if the seasons carry on like 8, perhaps it's time to end it.
