I binge read them all! Best read ever! The 3rd and 4th audio books are my favorite! Listened to the 4th one (call of the wraith) over a weekend on my phone! Loved these books 100%, if i could give this series 100 stars I totally would!

"She didn't moan like Tom. She did, however, look at me like I'd lost my mind. 'I really don't think we should set fire to the Louvre,' she said."

Though he has always aspired to merely become a master apothecary, Christopher Rowe is rapidly developing into an international spy. After saving the king in the course of saving his own skin while solving his previous two mysteries, he and his friends are sent undercover to Paris to protect the king's sister from an assassination plot. There they discover that solving the riddle of the missing treasure of the Knights Templar is key to their success. Once again their adventure involves secret codes, hidden knowledge, medicine and poison lore, mysterious associations, conspiracies, and disguises, plus court intrigue and cryptic history. This one adds a Da Vinci Code dimension.

This remains one of favorite ongoing series. The action and drama are spot on, and I especially appreciate the historical realism: "We smelled the city before we saw it. Tom scrunched up his nose. It was like someone had stirred a rotten egg in a chamber pot. 'What is that?' 'Your new home.' Sir William, riding next to our carriage window, nodded forward. 'Welcome to Paris.'" Life is gritty and the stakes are very real--major characters have suffered injuries and death--and the protagonist solves his problems not with a sword but with scholarship and science. Highly recommended.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS!
Tom is amazing, Sally actually DEVELOPED A CHARACTER (is there something between her and Christopher? Hmmmm.....) and Christopher Rowe is as amazing and intelligent as ever. The whole plot kept me reading for ages at a time and the deaths/incidents were unpredictable and at times scary.
Love the whole "I'm a true son of England" thing, had me crying with laughter. I love Tom

"But I don't want to go to Paris. It's full of foreigners."

"Actually, in Paris, we'll be the foreigners."

"Englishmen can't be foreigners, Christopher."
