Excellent introduction to haiku for the youngest of readers! While they may not understand the 5 - 7 - 5 syllable form, they will enjoy guessing to which farm animal each poem refers. Bob Shea's bright friendly illustrations also give clues to each animal's identity. This would also be a great book to help early elementary students learn about and create their own haikus.
