Like Defender, former military personnel hear voices, telling them to kill..

I am not disapppointed. This is the 3rd Charlie Parker novel I have read and I will keep going back for more. Great protagonist, interesting supporting characters. They are each unique and believable. And the stories are dark, fast-paced and spooky.

I agree with the August 9 2011 review where it says...."I'll give this one a pass".....

Too weird for my taste, and too slow moving.

I usually hang in there even when a book fails to grab me in the beginning, figuring it has to get better but I couldn't make myself finish this. One problem was setting up so many characters initially that you fail to connect with any of them. I have enjoyed previous books by this author but I'll give this one a pass.

John Connolly is a superb teller of stories. And I usually enjoy a supernatural story. Unfortunately, I could not complete this particular one due to the suicide element concern our Iraq vets. I am going to try one of his early books and see if I can complete it.
