Gideon, who thinks he has his life's plan under control, suddenly gets his world turned upside down when he realizes he has feelings for his best friend, Kyle, who already has a girlfriend.

McMillan Palgrave

From the author of A Little Something Different comes a quirky, heartfelt novel about high school, first love, and what happens when the plans you make for yourself go just a little bit awry.

Gideon always has a plan. His plans include running for class president, leading the yearbook committee, and having his choice of colleges. They do not include falling head over heels for his best friend and next-door neighbor, Kyle. It’s a distraction. It’s pointless, as Kyle is already dating the gorgeous and popular head cheerleader, Ruby. And Gideon doesn’t know what to do...

Kyle finally feels like he has a handle on life. He has a wonderful girlfriend, a best friend willing to debate the finer points of Lord of the Rings, and social acceptance as captain of the basketball team. Then both Ruby and Gideon start acting really weird, just as his spot on the team is threatened, and Kyle can’t quite figure out what he did wrong…

Author Sandy Hall’s signature wit and charm is back with Been Here All Along, an LGBT young adult romance from Macmillan’s young adult imprint Swoon Reads.

I can honestly say I really enjoyed this book! While sometimes books that are set in school bore me, this one really left a pleasant impression on me. Although I have to admit the beginning started off a bit slow, the events and excitement gradually built up at an excellent pace. The story revolves around two best friends who discover they both share feelings towards each other, even though one of them already has a girlfriend. What I liked most about this book was that there was the point of view of the girlfriend too, along with the two main characters. Usually characters like her would be cast aside and would have next to zero development but I'm glad to say there was some obvious dynamic contrasts with her throughout the story. Overall, I really liked the cute plot and characters and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a cute, enjoyable light read.
