The opening ten minutes are as strong as any police procedural I've seen, and the script, which is drawn from true events, develops well from there, as parallel stories are gradually brought together. Excellent acting by John Simm, David Threfall and a stellar ensemble cast. Don't miss it.

This was an excellent mix of DNA science and UK police detective investigation for the true story of the origin of DNA "fingerprinting" (or DNA profiling). DNA scientist Alec Jeffrey was knighted and became Sir Alec Jeffrey for the biggest detective breakthrough since fingerprinting.

A well-done three-series movie about DNA fingerprinting for first time crime investigation.

Well-done show about the first use of DNA in criminal investigation by the police to convict a serial killer. There is some suspense, but understated acting by John Simm as Alec Jeffrey (later to be knighted, Sir Alec Jeffrey) and David Threlfall as lead investigator David Baker and a thoughtful script feel just right. It may feel a little long but today's standards, but hits all the right notes imho.

It was a very interesting series...goes to show you, you can make a good and an interesting show with out over the top gore and overt violence. A well written series that covers a piece of recent history seldom talked about. It takes place before internet, cell phones and a lot of things we now take for granted - just good old-fashioned detective work and dogged persistence .

Really enjoyed this movie. Did not realize how long ago DNA was discovered.
Would recommend this movie, a piece of history.

Extremely interesting true story about the discovery of DNA. DNA was first used to prove paternity and later used in murder investigation. How far we have come since 1984. The scientist and the police officer involved in this story are involved in the production and the added features after the movie are worth watching.

Interesting movie that is based on the true story and real people! It is good, but can be even better! Very interesting how the DNA sequencing was discovered and applied to the criminal and paternity cases, etc! Revolutionary!
