WARNING: THIS MOVIE IS INCREDIBLY SAD AND MADE ME TEAR UP AT SOME PARTS, WHICH IS SAYING SOMETHING BECAUSE I USUALLY HAVE GOOD CONTROL OVER MY EMOTIONS.

Meaningful. Intense. Full of sorrow.

This movie was pretty awesome. Spellbinding, in fact.

Mack Phillips never had a loving father. His dad beat him and his mother and drank daily. Mack grows up, marries, and has three kids. He is sort-of-Christian, but then his young daughter is kidnapped and murderered in a shack. He turns his back on God, his wife tries to keep the family together, his older daughter blames herself, and his son resorts to sneaking out and lying. Then, one day, he receives a letter. From God. From Papa. Mack takes on a journey of reconciliation, forgiveness, and understanding when he visits the shack his daughter died in. He meets the very one Who gave him life, and learns necessary life lessons that change his world forever.
