I nearly set this book down after reading the overdone & melodramatic prologue, but I'm glad I didn't, since it improved drastically after that. While I at times felt a bit lost on account of my not having read Ashe's Falcon Club series, set in the same universe as this book, I was generally able to keep up with developments, and I enjoyed the mixture of romance and mystery. While Ashe overall is a bit heavier than my preferred comedy-of-errors brand of Regency romance, there were still moments of dialogue between her two protagonists that made me laugh out loud. Overall, quite a fun read.
