AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE A STUPID ZOMBIE MOVIE OUT OF A GREAT BOOK? ☹️😖😠😡😤
I am SO angry right now. Why do movie companies have to be so incredibly STUPID? The fans of The Maze Runner series don't want one of their favourite books to be totally changed into a horrible rendition of World War Z. Percy Jackson and Inkheart were bad enough. Now they have to ruin The Maze Runner too?
The producers of this movie dropped everything—the characters, the plot, the setting. They made Teresa into a miserable, for-the-greater-good traitor, Brenda into a creepy-looking annoyance, Jorge into an old black man (he's supposed to be 20-something and Spanish), and Ava Paige isn't even in The Scorch Trials. Oh, and then they made the Cranks into darn zombies! I mean, the Cranks were creepy before, but they looked basically like insane humans. In this movie, they were ZOMBIES. The movie company who made it wanted to fulfill the desires of fans. Instead, they ruined it. They changed into a horribly warped version of Dashner's amazing book.
Even for those who haven't read The Maze Runner series, this is an awful movie. Who wants zombies, anyways? Who even watches zombie movies? I don't. Zombies are an abomination of human intelligence and appearance.
And in The Scorch Trials book, the immune CANNOT get infected with the Flare. The way this movie portrays it is completely wrong. If you get scratched by a Crank, you don't automatically get infected, immune or non-immune. (Of course, you probably will get infected if you're not immune, because of the close contact. The Flare is mainly an airborne and skin contact disease.)
Oh, and also, why do the characters have to swear in this one? In the book they didn't. How would they even know swear words if their memories were wiped? Like, DUH.
I gave this movie one star for effort and for retaining the characters of Thomas, Newt, Minho, and Frypan (only good part about it). I hope you read the book because it is SO much better. If you're new to the series, know that The Scorch Trials is the second book, The Maze Runner being the first. The Death Cure is the third, and The Kill Order and The Fever Code are the two prequels that you can read in any order.

My 16yr old son asked me to turn it off because it "insulted my intelligence". I agree completely. Don't know what the books are like and now I don't want to.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie but fair warning for fans of the book that it in no way follows the plot line of The Scorch Trials. As a fan of the books it is slightly disappointing, but the movie as a separate entity was really good.
