I expected it to be a good read just by trusting what I know about the author. She never disappoints. But I didn't expect that I would stay awake through the night because I didn't want to put the book down & just had to see how it came out! It was a pleasant, simple story that you can quickly get lost in for just a little while and it does not disappoint! If you typically read documentary type books this is not for you. But if you want something light, quick to get into, touchingly pleasant without being inappropriate then this may be the book for you. Debbie is one author I trust NOT to have foul language in her books & though it is a romance story in the end, it is not ridiculously inappropriate as are so many books in this day & time. True romance is so much more than the "just do it" mentality of today and this is one author that always seem to get that! Thanks again, Debbie Macomber, for providing me with great entertainment! I have long admired you and own many of your titles!
This was a great Christmas book. It was a quick read and very funny. Imagine two people sharing a car (the last rental car) to drive to Seattle for the holiday. They are both wanting to get to their destination as soon as possible. They have a wild ride and get to know each other in the closeness of the car ride. Good book and very uplifting!
This is a lighthearted romance. Ashley wants to spend the holidays with her widowed mom and is determined to get there even if she has to travel with a grump like Dash. Dash just wants to get to his job interview. Neither are prepared for the trouble that ensues. This book is a fun Christmas read for the romance lover. The characters are likable and at times the situations can be laugh out loud funny. It may strain credulity at times, but it is a fun read.
Dash and Ashley find themselves unexpectedly pulled together during Christmas.
This book was a cute read for those wanting to get into a book and get it finished in short order- it was short and sweet.
Having never read Debbie Macomber, I have no prejudice against earlier novels. This is quite a fabricated story, but then holiday travel interruptions always are a bit dramatic. This just carries the theme a bit to the extreme, with larger than life characters. Watch out for Blade and you will adore Little Blade! I think the name Dash quite suits the hero of the story, and he lives up to our expectations of good behaviour, though we know he sure doesn't always feel like doing the right thing. This book will keep you calm throughout your holiday travels, complicated though they may be.
Hard to read. Characters unappealing. Plot absurd.
I have read and enjoyed other of Debbie Macomber's novels, and as such never expect an involved character driven book. However I thought this was contrived and rather lame. The story line regarding the mistaken identity of Ashley was a little unbelievable as it developed and ended. Also found it interesting that since the synopsis of this book was written the name of the made male character was changed from Kevin to "Dash" a little over the top even for her. Glad it was only a small book. Disappointed in this story.
Very cute and enjoyable. It was inspiring as well. Enjoyed it.
