While this first book in the series was a bit slow in the beginning, it was charming and suspenseful enough to keep me engaged, and the series gets better in the following two books. I loved the fairy tale references, the sweetness of the romance (the professor is so concerned for Ophelia's reputation, but little does he know she's actually an actress! Scandal!), and the historical setting. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, entertaining mystery, and especially if you like fairy tales and strong female characters.

That title is so much better than the book.

Honestly, the whole thing spun out of control so fast (as most cozies do) that I'm still trying to figure out the ins and outs of it. Although, I did appreciate the faster pace in the latter half of the story though the POV hopping was jarring. Did she really need to have all those POVs?

The jury's still out on whether I'll read the sequel or not.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a quick read and you have to suspend reality a bit [fairy tales are real- but hey, we all watch tv] but the characters are interesting and foreign and it's set in the Black Forest. Who hasn't been to Leavenworth?
