Because she has plans for the world too, an only a handful of days left to make them happen. Here is a truth that won't be forgotten: this is a story about laughing through life's surprises and finding the joy in every moment"--

If you need a good cry then this is the book for you, but be prepared to laugh through your tears, especially if you like Irish lit

Mia, "Rabbit", Hayes is a fighter and the very heart of her adoring family. But so is the cancer that is slowly taking over her body. However, Rabbit refuses to acknowledge that her diagnosis has just rapidly plummeted or share the news with her 12 year old daughter, Juliet. Neither one of them is ready to say goodbye. Rabbit's family is amazing, particularly her strong tough Irish "Mammy" Molly, who fights like a tiger for her daughter's life. Rabbit's father, Jack, and her siblings Grace and Davey are believably drawn characters. At times, the imminent loss of Rabbit threatens to push the family apart , but the reminder of how lucky they are to have each other to love quickly pulls them back together.

This book is sad, pretty much from the opening chapter, but it is much much more than that. Rabbit Hayes is checking into a hospice with stage 4 cancer and this is the multi-layered story about how her parents, her siblings, her daughter and her best friend come to grips with the fact that Rabbit is going to die. It is a lovely story about life and family and the way we connect uniquely to different people in our lives. The end is naturally very sad but it is also calm and hopeful. It was an emotionally exhausting but very satisfying read. I would recommend it.
