Middle of the road movie about the 1810 push by the French army into Portugal.

More of a drama than a war film, I kept losing interest in the six or eight plot lines that wound around this 2.5 hour movie.

John Malkovich's scenes seem like they were shot somewhere else from the rest of the movie, perhaps while on a break from some other movie shoot. The rest of the mainly Portuguese cast were adequate to their task.

I just wanted more action - and a better visual of the Lines of Torres Vedras than I saw on screen.
