A lot of smart-alecky grins and knowing winks. Too many for this stomach.
Highly pretentious codswallop, was my general impression.

Spectacle vs magic. Magic takes skill & years of practice to perform masterfully. This is entertainment that stretches believable to the breaking point with green screen theatrics that insult real magicians.

This has a weak ending and is immoral. The main characters rob banks, the story does not make sense. I am still left in confusion about this boring movie.

Saw its 2016 sequel "Now You See Me 2" a few months ago and finally get around to this pilot. As advertised, dazzling and entertaining show, an intricate Four Horsemen origin; filmed in Vegas, Paris, New Orleans, Chicago, LA and NYC; with outrageous but "explained" magic tricks that were revealed on film or found in the internet. Worth a second watch.

Just an endless series of twists, making everything lose its punch. The final twist barely makes any sense at all; it does come out of left field, but not because it's so shocking, but rather because it makes so little sense. The cast is a great little combination of old legendary stars like Michael Caine, Woody Harrelson, and Morgan Freeman and younger talents like Jesse Eisenberg (THE SOCIAL NETWORK), Dave Franco (21 JUMP STREET), and Isla Fisher (WEDDING CRASHERS). One actress that I think is greatly underappreciated is Melanie Laurent, who I first saw in INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS; the French actress shines brightly no matter the role and she plays every scene with perfect nuance. This impeccable casting aside, the story is a mess, a terrible hole-ridden mess. It's such a shame that you get these incredible actors together and this is what you give them. I wouldn't recommend it.

A group of illusionists are recruited to pull off one of the biggest bank heists to be done ever before. Each performer has their own set of tricks allowing them to bring something different to the table. Whether they are making you disappear, reappear, or speak another language, these world renowned illusionists and magicians are ready to show you what they are made of. Released in 2013 and directed by Jon M. Chu and Louis Leterrier, this heist thriller will bring you on a rollercoaster of emotions and action. The combination of incredible special effects and acting make this movie one for the books.

This is the type of movie I was looking for. Full of deception and trickery, this movie is very clever. It is all about magicians – but none of it is magic. Of course, as we all know, magic isn’t real, and it isn’t real in the movie either. The magicians brilliantly execute tricks to make them appear like magic. These guys are master illusionists. The careers of the magicians is kick-started with a huge bank heist, which gets them into trouble with the FBI. The ending is one that I did not expect at all – a huge plot twist. I really enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it.

Now You See Me is an incredibly captivating movie following the story of four expert magicians who call themselves “The Four Horsemen” as well as the FBI who are chasing after them. The ending will completely blow your mind, as it is completely unexpected. Of course, there are amazing actors featured in this movie such as Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, and Morgan Freeman. If you’re someone who loves magic and twist endings, you should definitely watch this movie. 5/5 stars.

Merritt McKinney: When I first met you, I thought you were kind of a... d&ck.

Henley Reeves: And?

Merritt McKinney: No, no. That's it.

J. Daniel Atlas: That's very nice. I'm touched.

Merritt McKinney: Yeah, just from the heart.

J. Daniel Atlas: Well, I didn't say where I was touched.

Do you believe in Magic? After watching this Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson movie you just might. Twists and turns about while we try to figure out who's cheating who. Also stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman Isla Fisher, Dave Franco and Jessie Eisenberg.
