New bluegrass and gospel voice worth listening to. Favs:

Workin' Woman Blues
Pushin' Against a Stone
You Can't Be Told

Quote from wiki: The album was so titled to commemorate the story of her life. June said: "I feel I've spent my life pushing against a stone. And the jobs I've had have been fitting for getting a true feel for how the traditional artists I loved came home after a hard day to sit on the porch and play tunes until bedtime."

I found out about this artist through The 78 Project (Check it out the78project.com) and she is absolutely the truth. I love the old country/folk sound and her voice is classic.

You cannot pin hole Valerie June. Her singing is off key compared to what you hear on the radio. But once you listen to her lyrics, Bam she has you sold. I loved Workin Women Blues because it spoke to me. She is like all women but can say what she feels through her songs. She does co singing and co writing with Booker T and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. When she does sing and write with them it is seamless. I hated to return this cd. I can't wait for her follow up record to come out.
