The fourth book in the Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane series. DOROTHY SAYERS, OF COURSE, PASSED AWAY MANY YEARS AGO.
Loved this book! It was a little slow going at first with the double quotes but the story took me by surprise and was beautifully turned and shaped.
Once more, Jill Paton Walsh botched the attempt to recreate Dorothy L. Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey et al.. Dialogues are even more wooden and artificial than her prior attempt, The Attenbury Emeralds. I read a few pages and got bored with the "ping pong" dialogue between Peter, Harriet and Bunter.
If you like Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane and Bunter, you will love this book! Many thanks to Jill Paton Walsh for keeping these wonderful characters alive! She appears to be channeling Dorothy Sayers.
