Down-on-his-luck Las Vegas magician Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) reunites with his old partner Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) to take on hip illusionist Steve Gray (Jim Carrey) in this comedy from prolific television director Don Scardino. Partners for 30 years, illusionists Burt and Anton made the Las Vegas Strip a magical place to be. But lately Burt and Anton's ticket sales have plummeted right alongside their once-strong partnership, allowing gritty street wizard Steve Gray (Carrey) an opportunity to steal their runic thunder. Now, in order for old dogs Burt and Anton to reclaim their rightful status as the best magicians on the Strip, they must learn some dazzling new tricks, and patch up their fractured friendship in the process.

Not as funny as I had hoped, given the cast involved, but not bad either. Jim Carrey & Alan Arkin steal the show, as they often do. Fine, if you have 2 hours to kill.

Yes, there are magic (camera tricks and incredible deception) but also about friendships and the career path of magician Burt from his childhood to become a Vegas headliner to his downfall and revival. Entertaining to watch.

Lots of mugging and screaming gags, but not much more.

Jim Carrey played an excellent role in this movie, yet his name isn't mentioned in the library record.

Spoiler alert!!!!

Any movie where ppl kill puppies is horrible. Don't let kids or animal lovers watch.

We did not expect to enjoy this movie but did. It had a really cute ending which we enjoyed. Worth a watch

A vapid husk of a comedy with only one mildly humorous joke to be found which like every other annoying trait about this movie wears thin. Lackluster performances from three A listers, an unforgivably bad script, and bizarre direction make this a must PASS.

You have to be impressed by the WillPower expressed by Steve Grey (Carrey's character).

fun to watch this, it is so cheesy, the magic show was so "vegas and cheesy" it made me cringe, (I think that was the point)I love Steve Buscemi though, he is great. hilarious when he was a kid " I have to take testorarone because I am so close to being a girl" . Alan Arkin was great also. some really funny moments, Jim Carrey was good and creepy as a street magician who was more "Jackass" than magin IMO. loved James Gandolfini also

Very average comedy with an exceptional cast. High expectations really bottomed out. There are a few chuckles, but not nearly enough. Carrey hams it up. Buscemi is very low key. Carell was underwhelming and miscast in the lead role. Something felt like it was missing from this movie the whole time I was watching it...oh yeah: laughs.

Burt: Are you a lesbian, Nicole?
Jane: Is every woman who doesn't sleep with you a lesbian?
Burt: Oh, no, I have slept with plenty of lesbians.
Rance: I had a stroke. I don't recommend it, either. It's not as much fun as they tell you in the brochure.
Burt: [Wonderstone confronts Gray in a bar] Mr. Gray. What you do is not magic. It is monkey porn.
Steve: I understand. It's natural for a dying leaf to be frightened by the autumn wind.
