A man struggles to defuse an explosive situation with tragic results in this riveting drama based on actual events. In 1988, France is wracked with political division. After a band of separatists seize a police station, twenty-six officers are taken hostage and three are killed. A counter-terrorism expert is assigned to deal with the situation, and while a peaceful solution at first seems possible, political forces soon necessitate more aggressive options.

An excruciatingly unjust true story of the French government's intervention in the far removed colony of New Caladonia. After indigenous New Caladonians try to reclaim some rights and power over their land, the French Army moves in as pressure builds to conclude a botched hostage takeover. The pressure from upcoming French elections overrides peaceful dialogue and culminates in a massacre against the Indigenous people. A very sad outcome which is likely not unusual in many military interventions (Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.).
