Written in 1932, Sky Blue was a fairly average Western tale which was written by famed author, Max Brand (whose real name was Frederick Faust).

This is a story about a magnificent, untrainable stallion (named Sky Blue) and the young man, Alfred Larribee, who manages to bring the horse into his trust only to have this fine creature escape from its pen into the badlands of Nevada.

Much of the story (which begins on a fairly humorous note then quickly becomes dead-serious) concerns the adventure that takes place once Larribee and his comrades head out in search of Sky Blue.

(*Author Note*) - Throughout his life (1892-1944) author Frederick Faust (who used many pseudonyms) wrote 500 novels, 300 of which were Westerns. To date, there have been about 80 movies made that are attributed to his work.

During WW2, Faust served as a war-correspondent in Europe. While stationed in Italy he was killed by flying shrapnel from an explosion. He was only fifty-two at the time.
