This could have been a wonderful program. The houses are stunning, the interiors and surroundings to die for. But they repeatedly show the same rooms, furniture, objects, paintings, objects-d’art—over and over again, ad infinitum, and I caught myself fast-forwarding. Too often Selina would comment on some portrait/art work in front or behind her without a close up view of it. Also there were pointless, excruciatingly long interviews with the present owners. (I was taken aback by one of them who wore a pair of jeans with frayed seams; to me it denotes lack of respect for the viewer.) Half way through the first house we knew a couple of rooms in detail! So, we tried the second episode: same thing. A program we thought would be a pleasure, ended up being frustrating. Hopefully there are books about these gorgeous houses we can get and be able to see the whole thing.

Really interesting look at five great English country houses with stunning photography and interviews with current owners/caretakers. Only wish Highclere (Downton Abbey) was one of them, but still a worthwhile show.
