Milo is an average nine year old boy. He likes video games, watching TV, not doing homework, and not eating his vegetables. His mom does her best to keep him in line and under control, but sometimes Milo can be a little much. In the middle of a fight between him and his mom, Martians come down from the sky and kidnap his mom. Milo panics, and embarks on the mission to rescue his mom and find out what is going on. This movie was directed by Simon Wells and was released in 2011 under the category of an animated science fiction/action film. This movie appeals to boys and girls of all ages since everyone can relate to the ups and downs of having a mom.

The planet Mars, as you can see from the title, is in need of moms. The children there are taken care of by robots – at least the females are. The boys are just sort of disposed of. They’re thrown into a junkyard. However, the Martians notice that on Earth, there is a boy who is being taken care of by his mother. This boy’s name is Milo. The Martians abduct the mother so that they can make her teach the robots on Mars how to raise children, but Milo sneaks onto the ship in order to rescue his mom. This movie is a heartwarming tale of a boy who is trying to rescue his mother. However, this isn’t really my type of movie, so it doesn’t really interest me too much.

Anytime that I *want* a little boy to get hurt because he's annoying/ rude....its a fail. Even when I found out the mom would die (!), I was still thinking hmm too bad for her but it'll teach that snotty little boy.

Enjoyable movie for older children. As others have indicated the theme of the movie is disturbing and should not be watched by younger children. Power to the kids, which is a theme I always enjoy in a film. So the older, adventurous kids will enjoy this.

Definitely not a children's movie. The story line is very disturbing from start to finish. Without giving away too much, there are some things about the story that you should be aware of...the mom gets abducted from her bedroom by aliens in a scary middle of the night scene...the mom gets strapped to a table by aliens, and spends the whole movie there, awaiting her execution (to make matters worse, a very disturbing and graphic execution of another mother was shown to make the son aware of what awaited his mother). The son spends the entire movie desperately trying to save his mom from a similar fate. It's rated PG, but in my opinion, should be rated "do not watch", especially if you're a child.

I found this better then the critics or box office showed. I wasn't turned off by the motion capture filming, it just looked like good computer animation. The story was fine, lots of action, suspense and such. I do think that it is sort of geared toward a weird audience. Younger kids I think would be both turned off by the theme (mom captured by aliens) and scared by some of the disturbing scenes. But older kids just may not be into these types of movies any more. So it sort of fell through the cracks. Worth watching though.

(Mom sees cat puking in the corner)
Mom to son: is that broccoli? I told you to eat that!
Son: Well, no, that's puke, but I understand your confusion.
