Happily married with a daughter, Marc is a successful real estate agent in Aix-en-Provence. One day, he has an appointment with a woman to view a traditional country house. A few hours later, Marc finally puts a name to her face. It's Cathy, the girl he was in love with growing up in Oran, Algeria, in the last days of the French colonial regime. Marc hurries to her hotel. They spend the night together. Then she's gone again. And Marc's mother tells him Cathy never left Algeria. She was killed with her father in a bombing just before independence..

This could be a companion film to Muriel and Les roseaux sauvages, two other French films on the Algerian experience, but it's not as good. Worth seeing though.

How many of you still remember your love interest from your childhood? This romantic drama from France is outstanding, blending a story of love with some mystery. The two lead roles in the film are now adults, but the memory of their obsessive love during childhood is rekindled when their paths cross. This is a 'must' for the romantics, and for those who once had strong feelings for their childhood love. Highly recommended. In French with subtitles.

Beautiful evocation of 1960s Algeria (where the director was born) and 1980s Provence. As a romance, it is a wonderful story, gorgeously photographed, with excellent acting by the child actresses. As a mystery, it would make a great film noir, except - SPOILER ALERT: The gangsters would not let an important deal like the one in the movie simply fall through. There would be serious consequences for the three people involved.

This is a brilliant film that showcases Jean Dujardin "The Artist" brilliant acting. A mystery and love story that takes one back to movies of old.
Brilliant.
