During the first moments of this film, I wasn't sure what to make of Charlie Russell and his mission to rehabilitate orphaned bear cubs in the Russian wilderness.

Charlie is the real deal. He puts his heart and soul into helping the cubs adapt to their new environment, even acting as surrogate mother to protect the cubs from larger, older bears to teaching the bears how to catch fish.

One thing that really surprised me is the gentleness of the bears and their affection and playfulness with humans who are kind to them.

Despite the poachers in the supposed protected area, Charlie perseveres. I, for one, am grateful that he does.
