Gipsy’s Acre was a truly beautiful place, with views of the sea, and in Michael Rogers it stirred a childlike fantasy. There, among the dark fir trees, he planned to build a house, find a girl, and live happily ever after. Yet, as he left the village, a shadow of menace hung over the land?for this was the place where accidents happened.

I liked this story and thought this was typical Agatha Christie. She sets the scene and tells the story from a first person narrative, leaving a trail of clues along the way. Without revealing any more, I would say the conclusion was foregone for those familiar with her technique. Kind of like Evil Under the Sun without Poirot. Actually, I listened to this on tape and thought the narrator did a fabulous job.

I can see why this is a little-known book of hers. The pace is slow, the solution is preposterous.

There's no mystery until disc 4 of 5.
