Sometimes you love the heroine...but in this story I loved the hero. I love historical romances...though my tendencies are more on historical England, with the balls, soirees, etc...this setting is US after the civil war. I did enjoy the book, and I do enjoy Lisa Kleypas and her style of writing, but like others, I found the heroine to be a little whiney. I love my heroines to be strong...and cry a little less than this one did.

I don't want to spoil it, but definitely read it! You'll appreciate how the characters come to love one another and change their lives for the better!

Far fetched premise of how they meet, and then gets even further stretched when you realize the male lead has aborted his initial plans in order to eventually meet her. Glad there was no moral waffling on the part of the main male character, but the wife was a bit annoying at times. Still, Lisa has such a wonderful way of weaving a story, the crazy coincidences and things that work out don`t really matter.
