Soraya, born in Brooklyn in a working class community of Palestinian refugees, discovers that her grandfather's savings were frozen in a bank account in Jaffa when he was exiled in 1948. Direct, stubborn, and determined to reclaim what is hers, she fulfills her life-long dream of "returning" to Palestine. Slowly she is taken apart by the reality around her and is forced to confront her own anger. She meets Emad, a young Palestinian whose ambition, contrary to hers, is to leave forever. Tired of the constraints that dictate their lives, they know in order to be free, they must take things into their own hands, even if it's illegal.

It's Ironic that Soraya is denied the right to stay in Palestine and her monetary and cultural inheritance. This movie really proves that even in this day and age, some of us still get no justice. Powerful and moving.

This is a sad story about the politics in the Palestine and Israel, what the life is like under the occupation.. This is a story about the Palestinian young woman, returning to Palestine, although born in USA, but finding that she is not allowed to stay, nor allowed to retrieve the money left to her by her Grandfather! The truth hurts, and there is no justice for people that are stuck in Palestine, with no way to get-out, nor improve themselves, no matter how hard they try.. Simply put, the Palestinians have no rights, and have lost their homes, had their bank accounts frozen, and much truth hidden from the outside world..It is especially hard for the young males... It's heart-breaking! It is a good movie, sad.. great panorama views, and wonderful acting!

I loved Soraya's defiance in the face of the implacable system. there is unfairness and pain on all sides of this situation. good portrayal of a would-be immigrant who had been immersed in her grandparents' history in a land no longer available to her.

Dispossessed Palestinians suffer under Israeli oppression. Filmed illegally (per Israeli rules). Thin, slow plot, but compelling circumstances.

A journey of a Brooklyn-born Palestinian-descent woman's returns to the land of her grandparents. Part politics, with a documentary-like approach, this film explores the main character's psyche of what it is to be a Naqba descendant and the desire to retake what was lost and relive that dream. Well-directed. My praises doesn't really mean I support the cause though.
