A must have reference book for any one considering making a recording of any type. Full of tidbits and tips on every facet of digital recording. Bitrates vs. sampling rates, Dbs, dynamic range, 16 bit 24 bit 32 bit float. MP3 FLAC, Ogg. It's all explained, so is the hardware needed, how to get by on a budget too, not just a list of high end equipment you need for mortgage the house for. The author's setup is very modest and makes sense for those wanting to dabble in recording or just curious. Whether you're going to transfer an old LP record to CD or record a dozen musicians in a live club, this is the book you need. Also a good resource for optimizing your PC and OS for the demands of recording XP, Win7, Linux, Mac OS discussed.
