Absolutely well worth seeing. I didn't realize that the health system in the Ukraine is in such dire straits, particularly for people with cancer and brain tumours. The British surgeon, Henry Marsh, donates his time, surgical skills, and medical supplies to patients in a Ukrainian hospital and with Ukrainian surgeon Igor Kurilets operate on patients who have no other options. These two guys are true heroes who work with substandard equipment and tools for miraculous results. Some cases are too far advanced and it is heart rending to see patients that are beyond help and who will die shortly and painfully though they look perfectly healthy. Dr. Marsh is particularly haunted by the memory of a young girl he could not save. He visits the girl's mother years later in a remote, poor area outside the city and it is very moving to watch their heartfelt reunion. The film was made in 2009 but it is probable that things haven't improved too much for the common citizen.

A British neurosurgeon is committed to helping the growing number of people in Ukraine suffering from brain tumors (likely linked to radiation poisoning from Chernobyl). The poverty and determination of these people, and their deep gratitude to this medical pioneer makes this a moving and thought-provoking documentary.
