During an early-morning feeding for her four-month-old twins, Meg Langslow hears an odd noise and goes downstairs to find her living room filled with cats, dogs, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, guinea pigs, and a stunningly foul-mouthed macaw. What the—bleep—is going on here?

Turns out that a financially-strapped local animal shelter has repealed its no-kill policy and, in an act of protest led in part by Meg's own zoologist grandfather, the animals have been stolen and resettled around town. But now the volunteer who helped transport the shelter animals has turned up dead. The animal-rights activist's untimely death seems very, very wrong… Was it the result of a lover's quarrel? Or is something—or someone—more sinister at play? And, arguably as important, will Meg ever rid her home of these pesky houseguests and get back to the business of nesting with her newborns? Squawk.

couldn't get into it, although I love birds. I got to page 1 and noticed text like "should I use the breast pump now or later?". OMG after that I am returning the book. Ick

This is the third book of hers that I have read. The first was very funny and charming, the second was similar, and this one seems like another book just like the other two I have read. She evidently has a formula that works for her. Three is enough for me.

Love this series. Well written with great protagonist and other characters. This installment doesn't have quite as much detecting as some of the others, but nonetheless!

I love this series and this title maintains the standard. The mystery is fun, but spending a few hours with Meg Langslow and her collection of whacko relatives is a real treat. A wonderfully humourous whodunit.

As usual, it is a real zoo around Meg's home, but she unmasks the murderer at the risk of her life. The other "bad guys" get sorted out satisfactorily, too. Well, what else would you expect, with Meg and family involved?

Donna Andrews at her best. I didn't figure out who did it. Loved this book.
