Really cute movie with a fairly predictable plot. Perfect for young teens that want something a little more mature but not too mature. The setting is in the past and that also brings up fun discussion points for the younger generation.

This is one of my favourite coming of age movies. This movie dives into the idea of one's "first love". The characters in this movie are still in middle school, their names are Bryce Loski, and Juli Baker. Juli at the first moment of seeing Bryce, decides that he is going to be her boyfriend, Bryce unhappy with Juli, begins to run away from her and stay away from her. This movie is another take on romance, seen from the perspective of young adults. It is also a less cringey, and less predictable romance movie, and has a fresher and unseen plot. The main and sub characters have their own unique personalities. I give this a 4/5, just because some parts of the movie should smooth out a little bit. Sometimes, certain scenes are very choppy, however other than that, this is by far one of my favorite movies. @Lime_Latte of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

This was a pretty boring movie in my opinion. I didn't really understand the point of this movie. It was about two kids who have been neighbors all their life. The girl, Julie, has a crush on the boy, Bryce Loski. Throughout half of the movie, Julie was shown as liking Bryce. Then, after a fight, Julie stopped liking him. That's when Bryce started liking Julie. The other half of the movie was about Bryce liking her. This movie made no sense. The other annoying thing about the movie was that the dialogues were repeated over and over again. The movie showed both perspectives, so all the dialogues were said more than once. That made the movie pretty boring to watch. This movie took place in the olden times, so the settings, and different characters were not unique and were not described well. Although some parts in the book were somewhat interesting, most of the movie was way too predictable and unimaginative. It was much too romantic and a complete waste of time. I would not recommend watching this movie. Rating- 2.5/5 @Vanilla of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I watched this movie late middle school when the trailer caught my eye, I enjoyed it then and I watched it again more recently now that I am in the middle of my high school career. Now that I am older I was able to understand and appreciate much more in this movie. The first time I watched it I was kind of disappointed when the movie ended, disappointed as in "That's it?". This was because there is not much of a rising action, climax, and falling action; they are there, but they are not as prominent as they are in most movies. Also, it was sometimes hard to follow the story because most parts of the movie are shown from both Bryce and Julies point of views. Keeping those in mind I would still recommend for people to watch this movie, it is funny, sweet, gives insight on how different life was then, and there are important life lessons throughout.

Typical Hollywood drivel. Acting is more like Hollywood cameos than development of characters. Use of word “retard” offensive and could easily have been substituted. Women portrayed stereotypically. Pathetically predictable, uninspired. Boy never shows anger or disobedience... very unnatural.

VERY GOOD 2010 "teen" movie. I enjoyed how they implemented the changing point of view of same time events back and forth from the boy and girl characters.
I'm adding it to my list of recommended 'teen' movies along with 1938's 'Mad About Music' with 17 year old Deanna Durbin (perhaps THE very first 'teen' movie) and also recently viewed 1999 '10 Things I Hate About You'...

I usually like Rob Reiner movies because he can show humanity in an endearing and understanding way. This movie shows too many people what are so angry or dysfunctional that it was like having to sift through the trash of their lives in order to get to some of the Rob Reiner moments. Not worth it to me.

Excellent movie for pre teens and teens, my wife and I loved this movie. This is the second time we watched, wish more movies were like this, no one was killed, no blood and guts. Some profanity, I guess to get a pg rating, not needed but that's Hollywood. Well to sum it up....check this movie out and enjoy.

What a gem of an obscure Rob Reiner movie. Very cute and clever story about young love.
