I've rated this as above average on the basis of the cinematography, which is outstanding, and the geological information, which is interesting. It's a bit light on history and absolutely ignores politics, but then it doesn't set out to be a history or a discussion piece. It is a very enthusiastic and unabashedly visit-Scotland presentation, in which everything is beautiful and equally astounding, breath-taking, etc. If I was on a tourism board or a local Chamber of Commerce, I would be distributing copies of this. Very pretty pictures though.

Although slightly dated (2009), this fascinating documentary is well worth watching. I especially enjoyed the part about the Falkirk Wheel (amazing!). Highly recommended.

A gorgeous documentary collection that takes us in the footsteps of the Highlands and the lochs. Much of the footage gives us breathtaking cinematography from above. The host is enthusiastic and cheerful, and while the emphasis is more on geography and place, there is enough information on history as well. The end result makes you want to visit this part of the British isles yourself.

Time well spent. Loved the relentlessly cheery host and the geology background. If you watched Brave you might see the similarity in this lady.

I wish I had watched prior to our 2-week vacation to Scotland. We visited many of the sites that are shown on this DVD. Beautiful cinematography - spectacular actually.

I was a little disappointed in that it is more of a geological tour of Scotland, the host is a geographer. I would have loved more historical/sociological info at the same time. There is a bit of that in particular when they showed Aberdeen, but I craved more!
