TEENREVIEWBOARD

This coming of age film stars familiar faces such as Vanessa Hudgens, Alyson Michalka, Gaelan Connell, and Lisa Kudrow. Charlotte is a singer/songwriter who wants to participate in battle of the bands so that she can beat her ex-boyfriend and have a shot at a record deal. As her band comes together, she starts to feel like she has a real chance at winning it. What I liked about this movie is that it is directed towards young teens, however, it has unique enough characters and an entertaining enough plot that people of all ages can enjoy it. I would rate this movie a surprising 3.5/5 stars because it had a young adult feel, without being condescending. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

i remeber i watched this movie on t.v and on dvd i love the movie band slan but viassa looks kind of boring in this movie like she didn't really care about things that much and she does not talk that much and this boy like's her and trys to heard to talk to her i remeber in this movie he took her book from her and threw it she also said to him that she and her friends that he likes use to be friends but than she changed and she was late being mean to her the last time i watch it on dvd was back in 2012 i think this movie is good .

Our whole family of pre-teen to teen enjoyed this movie. Lots of issues that are dealt with. No censoring/skipping/fast-forwarding needed. A teen who has been teased and picked on for the tragic mistake of his father starts at a new school. Various characters he interacts with have issues of grief, self-esteem, anger, failure, trust etc. this is mixed with some good, not immature humor. Talents are discovered and the students face there fears as they form a band and enter the yearly BandSlam Contest. Ending is not a happily ever after sugar-coated type, but not disappointing either.

A REALLY good movie.
Some parts are REALLY funny and there's even a tear jerker part...i ALMOST cried.
It's a pretty diverse movie cause of that, it's not JUST about the music or the humor, it's got alot going on but it all works together and it was really good!

This movie was cute, a little gruffer from a disney perspective and a nice move for the lead actress to get away from the cherry apple mentality of her acting style. Surprise ending, unexpected and lovely.
