The costumes are excellent (even if anachronistic), the scenes are luxurious, and the camera angles inventive. Its just that the performances are stilted, especially the voices of the actors: the acting is rather poor.

This DVD is Othello in movie form, not in drama (on stage) form. However, it is always difficult to make Shakespear's plays into movie form. So, the acting in this DVD is still quite like a drama - but not on stage. Do not expect anything like Hollywood. It you want to watch a decent drama on Othello over a DVD, this DVD does the job. If you want your children to have a better understanding of Othello, this DVD does the job. (Note: This DVD is not for kids, as there are a little bit of adult scene.)
