It reminded me of old French movies. Interesting from an artistic point of view with little substance to them. The characters were lacking in depth. Recommended for a wet and lonely day with a good drink in hand. Not a movie I would rave about. Sorry.

Personally I found myself thinking, "Yet another movie with no point to it,
where everyone just misses eachother by minutes. How unoriginal. "

Interesting setting in Turkish enclave in Bremen, Germany - and great material in Istanbul, Turkey.

A delicately layered tale employing a talented international cast with action that alternates seamlessly between Germany and Turkey. We are presented with separate storylines superimposed upon one another.....the Turkish prostitute working in Germany and worrying about her daughter back home; the aging pensioner who falls in love with her; the aforementioned daughter who heads to Germany to find her mother (and escape the authorities who want to question her regarding her radical politics); and Lotte, the German girl who befriends the daughter much to the dismay of her own right-leaning mother. Avoiding an overt political agenda, the director instead gives us a rich human story filled with sad ironies and occasional flashes of redemption. It is a story in which random acts of kindness can lead to tragedy, and forgiveness can be found in the most unexpected places. The final scene at the edge of a sunlit sea approaches cinematic perfection.

This film by German director Fatih Akin is a cross-culture product and shot at locations in both Germany and Turkey. It is a film that explores human relationship - father and son, mother and daughter, and lovers. Pace is fairly slow most of the time. It is an interesting drama with an exotic twist. I find it very enjoyable.

An interesting film about a variety of characters. The drawback to the film is that it leaves too many answered questions about what happens to some of the characters.

Good story or 2 stories that intertwined with each other. Nice ending too. The love between parent and child.

Wonderful film about forgiveness filled with the uncertainties that make up this life.
