Whether you're an over-zealous fan of professional boxing, or not, you're sure to find your interest sparked by this well-researched documentary showcasing one of the biggest trash-talkers of the 20th Century, Muhammad Ali (aka. Cassius Clay)._____ Containing lots of excellent, original footage (along with more recent interviews), this DVD examines the rise in 1960 of hopeful, young, black boxer, Cassius Clay (his real name) and it follows him to his glorious, well-publicized victory (at 22) against world heavyweight champion, Sonny Liston (10 years Clay's senior), in 1964._____ With his truly amazing speed, agility and lightning reflexes, Ali quickly became one of the most distinctive, vocal and recognized sports figures of all time._____ This documentary also gives the viewer a brief, but clear, glimpse of a very turbulent time in American culture when racism and segregation in the Southern States was almost running amok - And, Muhammad Ali was there to experience it._____ As you will inevitably see - Ali was quite an outspoken character who talked a lot of trash (in order to taunt his opponent) - Ali hob-nobbed with celebrities galore - Ali brazenly defied authority by refusing to be conscripted into the US Military - And, Ali created plenty of controversy when he closely associated himself with the likes of the notorious "Black Muslim", Malcolm X._____ This "never-a-dull-moment" documentary of jam-packed "Ali" enlightenment has a running time of only 60 minutes.
