Baker & Taylor
In the near future, with military adventurism overseas bogging down the Army and National Guard, the U.S. government mistakenly neglects the very real threat of anti-establishment militias scattered across the 50 states, and, like a sleeping giant, Middle America rises up and violently pushes its way to the shining seas, coming to a standstill at the line in the sand--Manhattan or, as the world now knows it, the DMZ.

& Taylor

Presents the adventures of aspiring photojournalist, Matty Roth, as he lands his dream job following a veteran war correspondant covering the second American civil war as they go into Manhattan, the heart of the DMZ.

This one is a real shocker....if you like Y: The Last Man you will like this series.

Brian Wood is consistently one of the best writers in comics today. His first installment of DMZ is simply brilliant - the best TPB I've read! Manhattan is the DMZ, a no-man's-land between two warring factions, and an extremely dangerous place. A member of the media finds himself with an opportunity to tell the tale of life in the DMZ from all types of different perspectives - soldiers on one side, soldiers on the other, and all of the regular people caught inbetween - and all the while trying to not get himself killed! This is Brian Wood on the very top of his game, and the artwork is simply outstanding.

A cool graphic novel with a great premise (sort of like an alternative history/dystopia premise with a new american civil war). My only problem is that none of the characters, including the main one, really grabbed me, which is kind of disappointing and while the premise is cool, there wasn't much plot in the first book. Still, I'll probably check out some more titles in this series. I liked Y-the Last Man, Fables, and the Walking Dead better but maybe this will grow on me.
