Old-fashioned rendition of a Depression-era family in the South. Interesting for historical value--an orange for Christmas is a big deal, your Christmas tree comes from your own land--and for its treatment of three generations under one roof as they anxiously await their father's arrival home in bad weather. Note this show was the reason CBS decided to create the actual "Waltons" series. It is slow-moving and some of the dialogue is wooden.

The tv pilot for the waltons series. Patricia neal plays "mama" although later she is replaced and Michael Learned takes over her role. It is family friendly and altogether a good christmas movie. Ellen cosby played grandma she did wonderful she also took over in the series. I enjoy this movie and the walton series.
-For the true fan
Did you know that in the barn seen their is a metal roof a mistake aparently made on the production side.
-Also in the series Gilmore girls. The walton house from the series is actually the dragonfly inn.
