Baker & Taylor As Dennis Pratt reluctantly prepares for an anniversary trip to Mexico with his wife, Patricia, he becomes convinced that she is having an affair when she loses twenty pounds--an obsession that changes the whole course of their lives.
Blackwell North Amer Dennis Pratt doesn't want to go on vacation to Mexico, especially with his wife. holding down a dead-end job in North Dakota while chafing against his lukewarm marriage. Pratt is within spitting distance of forty and in possession of an overriding lack of enthusiasm for most things in his daily life. His college-aged daughter seems less and less interested in seeing him while clues point increasingly toward his wife having an affair with the local alpha-male (and neighborhood dentist). And, possibly worst of all, he's even found himself tangled in that most mid-life of pursuits: golf. Obsessive thoughts flooding his mind, Pratt puts his job and his marriage at risk. He befriends a shifty father and daughter who live in a camper near the country club where Pratt is learning to play golf. He meets a mysterious artist and may or may not be falling in love with her. All the while his imagination runs wild with deranged, yet potentially true, paranoid thoughts. Only when en route to Mexico, and at a villa on the Sea of Cortez, do the pieces start to fall into place, with disastrous results.
