A human baby accidently ends up at the North Pole and grows up among the elf community. Buddy, as he comes to be known, knows that he's "special". When he's 30, Buddy learns from Santa that he's really a human. He decides to go in search of his father, to find out where he belongs. He walks to Manhattan, and is immediately run over by a cab. His father at first rejects him and Buddy ends up in a department store where other elves are working. But all the while, things are looking bad for Santa Claus. When Santa crashes his sleigh in Central Park, it's Buddy's moment to shine.

GOOD 2003 American Christmas fantasy comedy film. Will Farrell is quite entertaining, as are all the other cast members.
Fun viewing - doesn't need to be at Christmas time...

One of my new favorite Christmas movies. I love Will Ferrell, but if you are not a fan of his, still give this movie a shot, I bet you'll love it anyway.

I like this Christmas comedy DVD. Will Ferrell is hilarious. It is good for all ages. It shows how important family is. It has the message to be kind to each other and show love to others.

I had forgotten just how bright and funny "Elf" was until I watched it last night. After all, "The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear."

I watch this every year, and the mailroom scene is priceless. Heart warming Christmas movie, safe viewing.

This movie is really great, like one comment already said it puts you in the Christmas spirit, and it really does. It's a great movie even to watch outside of Christmas, outside of November-December. It's a great movie even for the middle of July!

A great movie to lift your spirits, even when it is not Christmas!

This Christmas classic showcases the human elf known as Buddy, who was accidentally brought to the North Pole as a baby and raised as an elf. When he uncovers the truth during adulthood, he goes to New York City in an attempt to reconnect with his real dad. This story has laughter, fun, and holiday cheer to lighten the mood and show that it does not matter where you come from, it is all about where you go. Although the movie is somewhat strange at times and has awkward acting, it is overall fun and exciting. I would rate this movie 3.5/5 stars and recommend it to any family over the holidays. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

Everyone seems to love the movie Elf so very much but I'm getting sick of it year-by-year. The first time I watched this movie I thought it was very hilarious but every single Christmas that me and my family watch it I get more bored and I seem to fall asleep every time! Unlike most people, I do not enjoy Christmas movies and this movie was ruined for me because people made it become very overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great movie and it is very clever, but I cannot get myself to enjoy it after I've seen it over 10 times! If you like Will Ferrell I suggest you watch this movie because he's the main character and plays the role of an elf that is clearly new to the world around him. His name is Buddy and he gets to experience New York for the first time and it is very overwhelming for him. While he's in New York he finds his last father and moves in with his new stepbrother and stepmother! That was my favourite part because nobody was expecting him just to show up in New York. It happened unexpectedly. Since I am very tired of watching this movie I would rate it at 3/5.

What do you see when you think of an elf? Probably a short, sweet-looking, creature in green clothes with sharp, pointy ears. But what happens when you are an adult human who has basically become an elf? You are tall and do not have the distinguishing features of an elf. But most of all, you do not really belong with the elves. This is the case with Buddy, a human raised in the North Pole by elves. He is sent to New York to find out who he really his and perhaps where he really belongs. What will Buddy do if he actually finds his family? Will he remain with the family who raised him, or will he join his biological family?
