when he gets into the political stuff it loses my attn. First of his "prey" books that I just couldn't finish. I've read every one of these but found the latter books lose the mystery theme, banter btw the old crew which were the crust…

Because of a relatively slow start for a Sandford novel, I just gave the 3.5 stars. It got better after the story got going. Lucas Davenport is tasked with preventing an assissination attempt on a female presidential candidate. …

Loved this thriller! My first John Sanford.

Another very good 'prey' novel.

Very good. Lucas Davenport, retired from the Minnesota BCA, is recruited to investigate threats against a candidate in the runup to a presidential primary. Vietnam-era protest group seems to be at the core of the conspiracy. I…

"Extreme Prey" is okay. It is not definitely not up to the quality of earlier Sanford 'prey' novels. Making a couple rural Aunt Bees into Posse Comitatus murderers and assassins is a little far fetched.

I don't know. Maybe after reading so many Sanford books they start seeming a bit the same to me. That's probably not too surprising. Once an author hits on a successful formula you can understand them being reluctant to depart from it. …

I love Lucas! And I definitely want him on my side as opposed to against me...he makes a formidable enemy. I found the attention to detail and humour set this one above the rest and as usual, it made my weekend zing by at an alarming…

OMG I loved this book it was fast paced and damn if Lucas Davenport was not hilarious. He made me snicker amid all the rampage and yes I read this book in 2 nights with only about 20 minutes of nap time. This is for me the best of the…

This one was just OK for me. It moved pretty slow in the beginning. The dialogue was short and stilted in some places. It does get better towards the end.

Iowa is a really nasty place according to Sandford. All your neighbors are ready to kill and some deservedly so. I like the way the story unfolds but the characters are simply too far out in the cornfield. I think Sandford is running out…

Not a bad summer read, but not one of his best. Quite formulaic and predictable. I found the editing and writing to be sloppy. Words are misused (sheath for sheaf), made up (eye-clicked) and some sentences are so poorly constructed that…

Not ghostwritten like a couple of the Virgil Flowers books, thankfully, but one of his worst in the series.

It was okay. The characters, including Bowman, were relatively flat. There are many other thrillers out there who outshine this one.

Love all the prey books, tho the titles make it hard to tell if i've read them. I have read several more than once

Fast paced, succinct. Very "Just the facts, mam." style of writing. Good for a predictable read. No surprises. No superfluous language. Solid 3 stars.

Enjoyable, quick read, formulaic Davenport. I miss some of the complexities of the earlier Prey books.

I must differ with some of the other commenters here, I feel that Sandford has jumped the shark with this Davenport book! Throughout the series there has been that subtle // OBEY AUTHORITY \\ meme, which could previously be ignored, but…

typical lucas book. good writing, good dialogue, quick, and of course the good guys win. as usual. ho hum. i like the books by ja konrath and others, where the bad guys get to win once in a while. otherwise, whats the point?

I found it okay nothing to write home about. Pretty average compared to some of his other books.

Much enjoyed. John Sandford has his formula just right.Lucas Davenport at a loose end and unemployed? Not for long and there's a new job, another step up in the offing

Fans of this long running series won't be disappointed but may miss regulars such as Del & "Suitcase". This instalment finds Lucas unemployed & driving everyone crazy so he jumps at the chance to figure out who is trying to kill a…
