Ken Follett does an excellent job weaving together a number of plot/story arcs. World Without End is a rollercoaster ride, the kind of book you tell yourself you will stop at the end of a section or chapter only to continue reading when…

"World Without End," an historical epic by Ken Follett, transports readers to the medieval town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the events of "The Pillars of the Earth." Against the backdrop of political turmoil, economic challenges,…

I read this book for the 52 books in 52 weeks reading challenge. I used the 2021 prompt read a book with a character with the same name as a male family member. this book has three -- philip, joseph and william. Its author also shares a…

It’s two centuries after the building of Kingsbridge Cathedral, and while many things have stayed the same—for example, the balance of power between the hidebound clergy and the rapacious nobility is constantly being pushed at by both…

A fitting sequel to the Pillars of the Earth, working forward in time to the Hundred Years' War and the devastation of the Black Plague years; the writing is satisfying, but the anachronisms are even a bit heavier here.

First time reader of Ken Follett. The progression of life experience within a generation during a time period in human history. I found it most entertaining and oh so true of the ways of human nature. Must read more of Ken Follett!

I had read Pillars of the earth and A column of fire before this so I wonder if I set myself up for disappointment. But Ken Follett delivered a masterpiece again. The locale is Kingsbridge as in Pillars of the earth but 200 years later and…

Out of the three books in the Kingsbridge series this was my favorite. Even better than Pillars of the Earth. From the first chapter to the end this book will keep your attention to the very end. Vivid characters and story lines that are…

I didn't finish it. I liked The Pillars of the Earth, but this one had a lot of jarring anachronisms and the people were sorting out themselves and their building projects about the same as the first book, and I'd just had my fill.

I think I could love anything John Lee reads. The 1st book, Pillars of the Earth, was one of the best. World without end satisfied my thirst for more of the same. It is nearly as good, well worth the trouble. If you enjoy the reader from…

The ignorant APL patrons that rented these CDS have scratched them to the point they're not worth listening. Maybe a little education for these idiots

Very reminicent of Pillars of the Earth. Captivating but the same little guy against the big guy story line as Pillars.

Exactly as good as the preceding book "The Pillars Of The Earth", which is a rare feat.

If you liked "Pillars", you'll enjoy this one, too. You are pulled into these peoples lives & only sorry when it ends.

I was super-excited to read "World Without End" but I also had my reservations. "Pillars of the Earth" ranks as my favourite book of all time but Follett wrote it eighteen years ago and, well, we all know how anticlimactic sequels can be!…

Enjoyed The Pillars of the Earth so much that I was very excited to read this book. Very disappointed. The book seemed trite, and the ending was a letdown.

After reading The Pillars of the Earth, I had to read World without End. I couldn't put this one down either. Great read!

The story was too similar to the first. The characters repeat themselves (Ralph Fitzgerald is Hamleigh back from the dead!), the crises repeat themselves (what? two people who love each other aren't allowed to marry because of the…

This tome is daunting but well worth the effort. You get so involved in the lives of the characters, they live on in your head. They become like family/neighbors and as you get into the story you feel like you are part of the "gossip" line…

An intriguing story about 14th C. Britain and how the people lived back then. It's about love lost and won and how religion and politics entered into people's lives. A fascinating story that will keep you spellbound. The characters live…
